Do You Accept Donations Of Bicycles?


Yes!  The Bicycles We Receive From Donation And Impound Are Lovingly Rehabilitated And Put Through A Rigorous 32-Point Inspection System.  The Revenue From Sales And Service Is Reinvested Into Our Programs. For Each Bicycle Sold In Our Retail Shop We Are Able To Grant One To Someone In Need. Your donation is tax deductible. 

Please note that Department Store Bikes Aren't Always Refurbishable. They Are Often Made With Lower Quality Parts That Have  Limited Life Span And Cannot Be Replaced Or Repaired With The Assurance Of Bike Safety. We Gladly Accept These In Like-New Condition.  Also - If a bicycle is damaged or worn beyond repair we will accept it for a 5 dollar recycling fee. 

How Do You Price Bikes?


We Use Various Online Methods to Establish prices, Usually eBay, Craigslist, BicycleBlueBook, and years of industry knowledge.  In Addition, We Perform An Overhaul So We Are Sure The Bike Is Safe When It Goes Out. This is INCLUDED in the purchase. That’s An Amazing Deal.

Cool!  Can I Volunteer With Good Karma Bikes?


Sure thing! Stop by the shop during business hours and introduce yourself. We will give you a tour of the shop and explain how Volunteering works. we also get an idea of your experience level before scheduling your first volunteer session. 

Can I Still Volunteer If I Don’t Know How To Fix Bikes?


Yes!  For Those Who Are New To Bike Mechanics, We Will Pair You Up With An Experienced Mechanic after a few visits.   Call It A Good Karma Bikes Buddy.  You’ll Get To Learn, Know The Shop, And Support The Community.  

If I Want To Fix Bikes, Do I Need To Bring My Own Tools?


No.  We Have All The Bike Specialty Tools Needed In Addition To Standard Tools.  You Are Welcome To Bring Your Own Tools If You Wish (We Understand That Attachment).

Can I Work On My Own Bike?


Sure.  We Offer Workstation Rental For $10 Per Hour.  You Get Access To All Our Tools And A Little Consultation From Our Experienced Mechanics.  Think About It, If You're Adept At Bike Mechanics, You Could Overhaul Your Own Bike For Less Than $50.  You Can’t Beat That. See our retail associate for information. 

Do You Have To Fix Bikes To Volunteer?


No.  Like All Nonprofits, We Need Help With Everything: Clerical, Infrastructure, Cleaning, Painting, Sorting, And Professional Services Like Bookkeeping, Administrative, Point Of Sale Support.  Just Ask, We Can Set You Up.  Please Email: francois@goodkarmabikes.org

What Are Your Other Programs?


 We Have A Free Repair Clinic Each And Every Saturday at Sacred Heart Community Services, 1381 South 1st St., San Jose.  We Repair Bikes For Anyone, No Questions Asked.  The Clinic Starts At 10AM and we do not take additional bikes after 12PM.  Clients Start Lining Up At 8AM. First come first serve.


We Have A Sponsor-A-Mechanic Program.  For $250, You May Purchase A Scholarship For Someone In-Need To Our Affiliated Park Tool School.  This is a tax Deductible donation.

Free Parking is available for all who do business within the mercantile center. Please do not leave any belongings visible in your car, as break ins are common.
